1. About these terms

These terms are a contract between you and Doppel Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17456891, registered office 1 Park Drive, London, England, E14 9BB ("Doppel", "we", "us"). They govern your use of the Doppel mobile app for iOS and Android, including any beta or pre-release version, and of the website at doppel.dating (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data and forms part of this agreement. If you do not agree, please do not use Doppel.

2. Who can use Doppel

You can use Doppel only if all of the following are true:

• you are at least 18 years old;
• you are legally able to enter into a binding contract;
• you have not previously been removed from Doppel by us;
• you are not prohibited by law from using a social or introduction service; and
• you are using Doppel for yourself, as a person, to meet other people. Doppel is not for businesses, promotion or any commercial purpose.

We ask for your date of birth when you sign up and we may ask you to verify your age. Giving a false date of birth is a serious breach of these terms and leads to immediate and permanent removal.

3. Your account

• One account per person, in your own name, with a working email address you control.
• Keep your sign-in details and your device secure. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you unless you tell us promptly that it has been compromised.
• Keep the information on your profile accurate and current. Your photos must be of you, recent and recognisable.
• You cannot transfer or sell your account to anyone else.

4. The beta

Doppel is currently in a pre-release, or beta, phase. That means:

• features may be added, changed or removed at short notice, and the app may sometimes be slow, unavailable or contain bugs;
• we may limit who can join, for example to particular cities or numbers of people;
• the Service is free during the beta. If we introduce paid features later we will tell you in advance and nothing will be charged without your clear agreement; and
• we may close the beta or reset it, giving you as much notice as we reasonably can. If we close it, we delete your data as described in the Privacy Policy unless you ask us to keep it for the launch version.

5. Connecting your feed data

Doppel matches people by the taste signals in their own TikTok or Instagram data. When you authorise a transfer from TikTok or upload an export file, you confirm that the account it comes from is yours, and you give us permission to process it as described in the Privacy Policy. You can disconnect or withdraw that permission at any time in Settings; if you do, we stop using the data and delete what we derived from it, and you may find that Doppel can no longer suggest matches for you. Uploading someone else's data, or an edited file, is a breach of these terms.

6. Community rules

We want Doppel to feel like a room where everyone is welcome. Do not:

• use Doppel if you are under 18, or make any sexual or romantic approach to anyone you know or suspect is under 18, or share, request or describe any sexual content involving a minor. We treat this as an emergency: see our child safety standards;
• pretend to be someone you are not, use another person's photos, or misrepresent your age, identity or intentions;
• harass, threaten, stalk, bully or intimidate anyone, on Doppel or after meeting through it;
• post or send nudity, sexually explicit material, or unsolicited sexual messages;
• post or send content that is hateful, discriminatory or abusive on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation or age;
• promote, glorify or describe violence, self-harm, suicide or eating disorders, or share anything illegal;
• use Doppel to sell anything, advertise, recruit, fundraise, run a scam, or ask other members for money;
• share another person's private information (address, phone number, workplace, screenshots of private conversations) without their consent;
• use bots, scripts or automated tools, scrape the Service, or try to get round any technical limit or safety measure;
• copy, reverse engineer or interfere with the app or the matching engine; or
• do anything that breaks the law of the country you are in.

If you break these rules we may remove content, warn you, restrict your account, or remove you from Doppel permanently, and where the law requires or allows it we may report you to the police or other authorities.

7. Safety, reporting and blocking

Every profile and every conversation in the app has a Report and a Block option. Blocking is immediate and the other person is not told. Reports go to our team, who review them and take action under section 6; we aim to review every report within 48 hours and sooner where someone may be at risk. You can also report anything, including about someone you met through Doppel, by emailing hello@getdoppel.app.

We do not run criminal-record or background checks on members, and we cannot verify everything people say. Please use common sense: meet in public, tell a friend where you are going, and stop any conversation that makes you uncomfortable. If you are in immediate danger, contact the emergency services (999 in the UK) first.

8. Your content

You own the photos, prompts and messages you put on Doppel ("your content"). So that we can run the Service, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, reproduce and adapt your content for the purpose of operating, protecting and improving Doppel, including showing your profile to other members and reviewing content that has been reported. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except that reported content may be kept for the period set out in the Privacy Policy and copies in backups are removed on their normal cycle.

You are responsible for your content. By posting it you confirm you have the right to do so and that it follows section 6. We may remove any content that we reasonably believe breaks these terms, without notice where the situation requires it.

9. Our content

The Doppel name, logo, app, website, design, code and matching engine belong to Doppel Ltd or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property law. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on a device you own or control, for the purposes these terms allow. Nothing else is granted.

10. Ending your account

By you. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile, then Settings, then Delete account) or by emailing us; see delete your account and data. Deletion is free and removes your data as described in the Privacy Policy.

By us. We may suspend or end your account if you break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we close the Service. We will tell you why and, unless it would be unsafe or unlawful, give you a chance to respond. If we end your account for a breach, you may not create another one.

Sections 8 to 12 and 15 continue to apply after your account ends.

11. What we do and do not promise

• Doppel suggests people whose taste, as measured from their feed data, overlaps yours. An overlap score is a measure of shared taste. It is not a prediction of attraction, chemistry, compatibility or how a relationship will turn out, and we make no such promise.
• We do not promise that you will get matches, that other members are who they say they are, or that any meeting will go well. Members are responsible for their own conduct.
• We will provide the Service with reasonable care and skill. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, the Service is provided as it is during the beta, without other warranties.

12. Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law. If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Subject to that, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill, but we are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, for loss caused by another member or by events outside our reasonable control, or for any business loss, because Doppel is for personal use only.

13. App store terms

If you downloaded Doppel from the Apple App Store or Google Play, the following also applies:

• These terms are between you and Doppel Ltd only, not with Apple or Google. Apple and Google are not responsible for the app or its content, and have no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. Doppel Ltd is responsible for the app, for any warranty it comes with, and for addressing any claim about it, including product liability, legal or regulatory claims, and claims that it infringes someone's intellectual property.
• Your licence to use the app on Apple devices is limited to Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store's usage rules.
• If the app fails to conform to a warranty, you may tell Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price (there is none during the beta); Apple has no other warranty obligation.
• You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a UK, EU or US government embargo, and that you are not on any restricted-party list.
• You must comply with any applicable third-party terms (for example your mobile data agreement) when using the app.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms as regards the app on Apple devices, and may enforce them against you.

14. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms as Doppel develops. If a change affects your rights or obligations in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app or by email at least 14 days before it takes effect, and you can delete your account before then if you do not agree. Continuing to use Doppel after a change takes effect means you accept the new terms. The version and date at the top tell you which terms are current.

15. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except that if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may bring proceedings in your local courts, and you keep any protection given by the mandatory law of the country you live in. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If you have a problem, please email us first: we would much rather fix it than argue about it.
